Schedule and Plan: The first stepis toset time aside from your routine for Meditation. Initially you can just take 10-20 minutes from your schedule but it’s best to be regular. Also there are numerous ways to meditate and varied meditation techniques choose the one you want to pursue.

Place to Meditate: Identify a place where you plan to meditate, identify a calm and comfortable place with least distractions

Start Small and Increase Gradually: It’s best to start small, initially dedicate just 10-20 minutes each day and gradually increase the duration as per your convenience

Stay Focused and Motivated: Many a timesindividual give up as they expect drastic results too soon. Stay focused and motivated regarding your meditation schedule and with time you’ll reap the benefits

Drop all Expectations: If you are expectingresults from your Meditation schedule then you are defeating the purpose of meditation. You are putting conditions, desires and expectations; understand that your natural state is that of unconditional peace and freedom. Don’t eat or drink before you meditate: It’s best not eat or drink anything besides water for at least an hour and a half prior to meditation as this will help keep your physical body as light and clear as possible. Also eating or drinking will lead make your systems busy digesting the food, making it much harder for you to relax

Leave Control: Meditation is not about controlling your thoughts but about being aware of them. The trick is to allow the moment to be as it is and be completely at ease with the moment

Meditate before you meditate: It’s best to practice few breathing exercises to calm your breath, mind and yourself before you start with the actual meditation.
